Johanna holds a Master’s degree in Exercise Science and a Ph.D. in Health Promotion. She is a National Board Certified Health & Wellness Coach (NBC-HWC) and a Certified Exercise Physiologist (ACSM-EP), blending scientific knowledge with practical tools to help clients improve their well-being from the inside out. In addition to her role at Ferguson Fitness, Johanna serves as an Assistant Professor of Health and Human Performance at Ferrum College, where she educates future leaders in health and fitness. Her deep expertise and caring approach help shape the supportive, evidence-based culture that defines Ferguson Fitness. Together, Anthony and Johanna have created a space that’s more than a gym-it’s a community. What started with a few small group sessions has grown into two state-of-the-art studios in Roanoke, offering everything from personal training to HYROX, Spartan SGX, and youth athletic performance programs. But no matter how much Ferguson Fitness grows, the heart of it remains the same: real people, real community, real results. Anthony and Johanna are proud to lead a team of passionate coaches and to serve the Roanoke community-not just as fitness professionals, but as partners in your health journey.

To help others break through self-doubt and discover what they’re truly capable of. “The old saying ‘You never know until you try’ is so true. Seeing folks step outside their comfort zone and surprise themselves is such a fun moment to witness!”
