			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>When your a trainer and have managed businesses and staff your very accustomed to creating challenges and goals for them but far too often its easy to stop challenging yourself,as I had slipped into doing. I had become comfortable with my 80%/20% diet (my way of telling myself its okay to eat 20% junkfood) I had also not really challenged myself in the gym although I have never missed more than 3 or 4 days of working out over the last 20 years I have been &#8220;skating&#8221; or taking it easier than I am capable of for the last 5 years. So when challenged by Jeff Scot Phillips and Robyn Goodpasture to take the 8lbs down challenge I knew my number was up and the training and fit food clients would be watching! To kick it off I purchased a Roanoke Valley Fit pass so I could access Adventure fitness for the group exercise (TRX + combat) and FitStudio 365 for the weights. What I found at the two locations was much,much more than the features. To start with they both have a inviting atmosphere where all staff and members make you feel welcome plus you see some intense personal and group training workouts taking place so its hard not to be motivated to train intense. As with most of our fitfood clients using FitFood and Jeff&#8217;s guidance I was down 8lbs before the end of week 1 and that really motivated me because I see our clients making that happen all the time but I needed to know it could work for me too! If your still reading and have not fell asleep yet I wanted to encourage you to talk with us on how I can hook you up with some of the finest fitness professionals I have ever worked with and if you do not live in Roanoke I can help create a checklist of things to look for when seeking out a trainer or facility. One last note, I have decided and committed to competing in the 2012 Charlotte Cup Bodybuilding show April 28. I know the team at FitStudio 365, Adventure Fitness and my friends and family have my back in preparing for the show and we will be reporting on me using our new competitor line soon to be released by FitFood! 			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>Want to thank all of you that have read this blog and encouraged me to take this on! I want to make two quick points today:1- Yes sometimes when you make a goal or commitment everything seems like its working against it (schedules etc&#8230;) and 2 &#8211; When someone tells you they have a goal don&#8217;t ask them why just simply support them! Okay let explain the first point more, we as fitness professionals are always encouraging clients to take on challenges and to make sometimes what can feel like major changes in their lifestyle. I do it all the time and I now understand more about how hard even the first few days of a challenge can be mainly because life is busy and making even simple changes in diet and exercise can feel overwhelming at times. Some of you know that Johanna and I have a large family (5 kids!!!) and with all the demands of family and owning a small business you can find yourself putting everything else in front of your goals. Alright that sounds like whining but the point is I will remember these last few days struggles as I coach clients in the future and find creative ways to help our family and others to incorporate small changes that help them feel confident that their goals can and will happen! 2nd point of simply to encourage others when they confide in you that they have a goal! When hearing that a co-worker or family member has a fitness goal do you find yourself saying things to them like * &#8220;why&#8221; &#8220;bet that expensive&#8221; &#8220;I tried that and it didn&#8217;t work&#8221;. These are goal crushing statements and if its not your intention to crush their goals then just be supportive and let them know they have your support. So I guess to sum up that point &#8211; say nothing if you don&#8217;t have anything nice to say. Saturday I had a awesome time at their Open house and this Fit Pass is a huge hit already! It was true serenity for me to workout by myself using the 24 hour access at Fit Studio 365 Saturday night followed by a intense Body Combat at Adventure Fitness Sunday with Combat Kim! FitFood is a major time saver and looking forward to a great first full week of this challenge&#8230; thanks for reading- anthony</p>

<p>By my best calculations today is day 100  training with the Ferguson Fitness team and when I got on the scales  this morning I discovered, to my amazement, that I am now down 36  pounds! My goal was to be down 35 pounds by year-end, but I’ve reached  and exceded that goal a full 32 days ahead of schedule.  With Anthony’s  positive, upbeat attitude and Johanna kicking my butt in Body Combat  I’ve totally enjoyed this true trasformation.  The FitFood has been an  amazing tool that Anthony introduced to me about two months ago and has  really helped me understand portion size and the true need to keep that  under control, not to mention the food is totally awesome.<br />
I am not a professional body builder nor do I have the desire to be, but  what I do desire is to get my health back under control and to take  charge of my life.  I do not like working out, actually a few months ago  I totally hated the thoughts of going to a gym.  The Ferguson’s have  helped to change that to a “strong dislike”, but it gets better each  week as I see such amazing results.<br />
When I started my battle of the buldge I was over 300 pounds, I won’t  say how much, but I was miserable in my body.  I took the full length  mirrors out of the house and was a total depressed wreck.  I made some  changes on my own and managed to lose about 50 pounds.  I was stuck for  over 5 months.  Then I entrusted my life Ferguson Fitness and the weight  is falling off again and I’ve never enjoyed life as much as I am now.<br />
Ten months ago I was on 9 medications a day for diabetes, high blood  pressure, depression and other ailments.  Today I have been taken off 7  of those medications and only have 2 to go.  I have an appointment with  my endocrinologist on December 9th and fully expect to be taken off the  remaing meds.<br />
I just wanted to say “Thank You” and I really hope that someday I can  help others in the way that Ferguson Fitness has helped me.</p>

			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>Being a former Marine everything to me is a mission and over the month of December I am on a mission to completely breakthrough the myth that the holidays means we get out of shape or have to start a resolution based program in January. Yesterday the Roanoke Valley Fit Pass was launched in a sneak preview and I have planned my workouts in a way that will show you what awesome trainers,instructors and programs will be available to you and how when true fitness professionals collaborate and work together we can come up programming that will change lives for the better! My goal really is to be able to describe the experience and also the obstacles that happen daily with a big family and business so you will not be bored with how much I &#8220;benched pressed&#8221; daily! FitFood will be my fuel during this challenge and without going into too much detail now let me just say it is awesome! So between a variety of workouts working with everyone at Fit Studio 365 + Adventure Fitness along with improving my overall health with the help of Balance Chiropractic and Wellness this will be a amazing month! (Oh yeah Johanna my wife will be supporting me all the way and doing it with me so its about to get fun!</p>

I will try to keep this brief since we are having such beautiful weather here today in Roanoke VA and my high energy daughter is ready to get back outside! I spoke with a former training client and they were commenting on the fact that they notice Personal Trainers on their cell phone and texting while training clients. I have to say I fully understand how busy trainers can be trying to keep and make appointments and keeping their facebook and twitter pages but to me this is inexcusable. I asked my client if they would have fired me for texting and I got a clear and prompt &#8220;yes&#8221;. Big box clubs have thousands of members and only a small percentage purchase personal training and more and more are choosing to work with trainers in small,private training studios. Why is this happening? Thinking about the subject of hospitality and focusing on the client has really had me reflecting on my own experience and how I can improve my customer service and create a better experience for clients. I tried to think about where I have had the best customer service and some of the big names come up like Starbucks and The Hilton and I am sure you all have your own favorites. So what did they do that made you want to come back? How did they win you over as a customer? These are questions I am sure all service industries are thinking about and on my quest to find the best in customer service I found the most obvious to anyone thats visited the &#8220;happiest place on earth&#8221; DisneyWorld!!! In reading the Employee manual from Disneyworld I noticed that Walt Disney always states that the staff is &#8220;on stage&#8221;. This is so important and yet so easy to forget as we get caught up in our day to day challenges. One of my goals in writing this is to motivate myself to seek out new ways to be a better trainer, listener and overall better provider of customer service. Ultimately it will be your decision to purchase services and as trainers it is up to us to find ways to be truly viewed as professionals in the way we serve our clients. <p>So let me start by saying this will be a blog dedicated to my family,clients and anyone I can motivate or help cause positive change in their lives. I&#8217;m not sure we could ever fully realize how fortunate and blessed we actually are but if you have known me for any amount of time you know I frequently say I am one of the luckiest and most blessed out there! Sure like everyone I have had struggles and disappointments but they never last. Family, health, career opportunities are just a few of blessings I am thankful for daily and I fully believe one way to we all can realize these are through the positive benefits of exercise and nutrition. Things are changing for us here at fergusonfitness.com and it is so exciting, my wife just started her new career as a Professor where she can help shape and educate a whole new class of fitness professionals to change lives through fitness! I have taken on the challenge of building our own business through a variety of fitness services working alongside the best fitness professionals in the Roanoke and surrounding area.
