The Next 90 Days…. What If?

The Next 90 Days…. What If?

Anthony’s Challenge What if ? What if I applied myself even more and worked to improve areas of my life that could really positively impact lives? That was the question I was asking myself after coming off a very exciting month for our family where we saw growth in our business, personal fitness results, and wrapped up with a awesome family vacation. So what could I possibly be asking “What If” about? I was very confused why there was something nagging me deep down telling me I could do more, telling me I could experience so much more for myself, our family and all the clients we help with fitness.  So I started to take a look at the areas I wanted to experience growth in and set up goals and action steps to give it my all for the next 90 days. Through the course of this blog series, my goal is to truly enjoy the process of working hard to be the best version of me and experience a sense of accomplishment.   Here are the areas I want to improve in ….   LIFE AREA GOAL ACTION STEPS Family More quality time – Creating memories – Experiences Planned activities like pool – outdoor adventures  – Birthday Trip to Washington DC Faith Igniting God’s vision for my life Attending Elevation Church – Listening to sermons- getting involved –   reading the Bible Fitness and Nutrition Complete P90X mixed with PiYo and for nutrition will   incorporate Carb Cycling with focus on natural foods Accountability Coach – Johanna – Program based on   P90X and PiYo programming. How to AFFORD to Get Healthy & Fit!

How to AFFORD to Get Healthy & Fit!

Jul 10, 2014

We hear too often from our clients that they can’t afford to train at P90X Roanoke or join one of our Fitness Challenge groups online.  But most of the time, its not that people can’t afford the training fees or challenge packs, its that they don’t yet place value on getting healthy and also usually don’t have the confidence or belief in themselves to invest in a healthier, fit future.  So as this graphic points out, there are typically a lot of places in your budget you can easily cut back on and afford our programs. Do you stop for coffee on the daily at a gourmet coffee place?  Most of the time, the drinks we are choosing are loaded with extra sugar, calories and caffeine your body doesn’t need and many times those beverages are $5 a pop so that’s $100 a month easily.  What about fast food?  Do you frequent drive-thrus for lunch or dinner because of your busy schedule?  I’ve not been to a fast food place recently where I don’t spend at least $5-8 on a meal.  You could be drinking Shakeology daily for lunch and put dense, superfood nutrition into your body compared to food with lots of fat, calories and not many nutrients, saving a lot of time and at $4 a serving, saving a lot of money!  And what about dinner out at restaurants?  How often are you eating out?  A family could cut back on one-two dinners out and easily save $80-100 there. What if instead of these unhealthy and expensive choices, you made the choice to invest in your fitness and yourself?  For somewhere between $100-$140 monthly, you could join P90X Roanoke or purchase a challenge pack like the ones pictured here and get a month’s supply of Shakeology AND a complete fitness program to do AT HOME (more time and money saved on gym memberships you may not be using) on YOUR schedule and getting daily coaching and support from us and the other members of our online health and fitness challenge groups.  You could be surrounding yourself with other people striving to improve themselves and reach fitness goals they set for themselves and...

6 Tips to Avoid Holiday Weight Gain

6 Tips to Avoid Holiday Weight Gain

Nov 11, 2013

As I am writing this, we still have a couple weeks before Thanksgiving but you can feel it coming.  The busy-ness, the parties, the family gatherings, the holiday cooking and baking, and stress that starts mid-November and continues through early January.  During this time, the average weight gain for most is 1-2 pounds according to WebMD but for some it can be upwards of 5-10.  And even if you don’t gain weight, healthy eating and exercise are typically low on everyone’s priority list during the holidays which could mean loss of muscle mass, strength, and lower metabolism not to mention losing ground on any gains you may have made in your fitness the past few months. So how can you avoid this downward spiral and avoid losing ground and stay fit this holiday season?  Here are my Top 6 Tips of things I use to stay on track and avoid having to face the music in January. 1. TRACKING – People who are successful at losing weight, maintaining weight loss, or in any other facet of life track their progress toward a goal.  In the case of losing weight or avoiding gaining, you can track your weight regularly to keep you accountable.  Different things work for different people but once a week is a good “gut check – pun intended” to make sure your weight is shifting in the wrong direction.  You can also track your meals or calorie intake.  Doesn’t matter whether you use one of the great apps available like MyFitnessPal or LiveStrong or MyPlate, or keep it low tech and pull out the notebook and pen, any sort of tracking system that works for you will keep you more aware of and in tune with what you are eating.  Its much harder to go for that dessert, junk food item or extra serving when you know you will have to write it down or log it in later. 2. EXERCISE – Sounds simple but having worked in gyms and led fitness classes for the last 15 years, I know that it gets a lot emptier in any workout setting during the holidays.  With extra events on your calendar and having to...

No time to workout?

No time to workout?

Aug 27, 2013

I want to let you know that I understand fully how busy life can get and since I am a parent and small business owner I can really relate! When I first started personal training I was still an active duty Marine and when I heard a client say they didn’t have time to workout and eat right I would go through the roof and make them feel bad for making an “excuse”. As you can imagine that did not help me build loyal and successful clients so I had to listen more to my clients obstacles and help find solutions based on their goals, schedules and level of commitment. Americans are busy and sometimes we are so overwhelmed with everything the first thing to go is working out and good nutrition the two things that equip you for success during your busiest times. So this is not a lecture on making excuses it is the opposite I have a real world solution that you will love and be able to keep in your workout arsenal for years. Our clients are seeing results with the new Focus T25 Program from Beachbody. It was created by Shaun T who you may know since he created the Insanity program. T25 has already sold over 100,000 programs in the first two months with no sign of slowing down. The workout only takes 25 minutes daily and by using the F.I.T principle (focus intensity training) you will get a hours worth of working out in only 25 minutes! Another thing our clients love is that for each movement you can follow the advanced version or follow the modifier so it really does help you progress and feel accomplished! Currently we are offering a special where you get the entire T25 program, nutrition guide complete with recipes, 30 days of our top meal replacement Shakeology and free online support and motivation from me your Team Beach Body Coach! The online challenge groups are there to help you succeed and keep you going during the times you are tempted to give up. You will love the support and encouragement. Okay this is my #1 solution for busy schedules now its time...

Why I have two online coaches

There’s a explosion of a great trend in fitness and business building and its online coaching! I wanted to let everyone know what I do as a online coach and why I have a online diet and training coach along with a coach to help me build my business. I am a diamond level Beachbody coach and what I love about that is I can help way more people than ever before no matter where they live or how short on time they are. One thing I noticed from the beginning of coaching was how driven my coach is and how she encourages me to set goals and take on personal development projects. I am very motivated by Brooke’s accomplishments and it really pushes me to get better. So with Brooke in my corner for business building I knew it was time to take my nutrition and training to the next level by starting the Focus T25 challenge. Being a trainer with so many online and Bootcamp clients myself I wanted to take the thinking out of my preparation and gain the discipline of having a online nutrition and training coach who each week will be making sure I have a custom program that is producing the results I want based on my schedules and diet preferences. The biggest thing I was seeking is the accountability which we all need after setting goals. So I am very motivated to introduce my online nutrition and training coach ….. Vann Yarborough. He is a great guy with plenty of knowledge and I have been impressed by how organized and personalized his approach is. Check out his YouTube channel http://YouTube.com/brofitness and to see more about how I coach clients through programs like P90X and Insanity checkout my site...

Vacation – ferguson fitness style!

Vacation is that one to two weeks that everyone typically looks forward to all year and after consulting with thousands (yes thousands – I’m getting older) of clients I would say its one of the main motivations for people wanting to start or accelerate their exercise and nutrition plan. I am no different in that I share that motivation to look my best at the beach and to keep up with the kids so I wanted to share with you how I plan to keep the program rolling here at the beach and I hope it helps you on your next vacation or business trip! We have been coming to the beach together for several years as a family and each year I am excited to workout knowing that I get to workout in a different environment and with no work schedule to balance it with. Strangely enough I never found the right combo of what to do at the beach, for example I have tried the condo workout rooms but we all know they typically are not great and also went to local gyms only to pay way too much for a day pass and waste valuable beach time driving. Last November we added Beachbody Coaching to our lineup of client services at Ferguson Fitness and its been by far the biggest improvement we could have added for both clients and us. All We need is a TV and DVD player + small space and I’m training with the best trainers in the country. This week I have workouts planned daily with P90X-Insanity-Les Mills Combat and my new favorite Shaun T’s Focus T-25!! I kicked off yesterday with T-25 and a few minutes of Combat followed with Insanity this morning! The best part is the kids like the workouts and jump in and do what they can so our day starts right with fun that leads to picking better and healthier good choices + more ENERGY!! If you can’t tell we love the programs and of course brought our Shakeology so I drink it post workout followed by the beach! Please check out our site http://beachbodycoach.com/fergusonfitness to see all our programs and yes...
